If you installed the game in the default installation on a C drive, the path should be: C:\Program Files\UBISoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Sh4MissionEditor. I would suggest downloading that mission, playing it first in the game, and then opening up in the editor to see the basic mechanics of the mission creation to follow along with this mini-tutorial.ġ) Start the SH4 Mission editor. It takes place in June 1944 and is based on the capture of U-505 by American Task Force 22.3, a Hunter Killer group formed around the USS Guadalcanal (CVE-60) that was heading towards Casablanca to refuel. The completed sample mission that was used to create this tutorial can be downloaded here. U505 (as it is titled) is the ninth of 10 single player scenarios available in the game. It sported much better graphics, “Hollywood-style” special effects, actual ship damage such as holes above and below the waterline, and the coup de grâce for video gamers – no disc is required to play the game, and more on point for this post, no disc is required to use the mission editor (as in Silent Hunter III).įrom start to finish this should take you less than 20 minutes. Silent Hunter IV was the 2007 follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2005 release of Silent Hunter III. Please note that I have not been able to determine how to make this work with the expansion pack “U-Boat Missions” as selecting any German submarine seems unplayable in the game. The guide can help create a basic mission (or more complex depending on your tastes) that can be found in the game under the Quick Missions section. I wrote the following guide back in November 2007 for my gaming website, Special Operations Combat (now defunct).
